We are committed to being an anti-racism organisation. We will not tolerate any form of race discrimination – and are proud to celebrate the diversity of our community.
WECH is a successful resident-controlled housing association in Westminster, which emerged from the struggle of residents against the sale of their homes to private developers. We are a beacon of how resident control can revitalise estates and create sustainable and inclusive communities from the bottom up.
WECH is proudly diverse. Our board, our staff and our residents are diverse – and we celebrate that fact. Our community spirit is strong and our resilience is only made stronger by our diversity and mutual respect for one another.
We believe that participation of our residents is essential to our success and we are fully committed to working in an inclusive way.
I became Chief Executive in July 2020, and I am committed to building on WECH’s strong history to ensure this remains a housing association that our residents and community are proud of. I was horrified by the death of George Floyd and firmly believe that Black Lives Matter.
WECH will continually review how we work, including how we recruit and support our staff team, to ensure that our diversity continues. This will include working with the wider housing sector to continue to be a leading example in how resident control, and a commitment to equality and diversity, should be at the heart of all housing associations.
